Choccywoccydoodah!

My good friend Emma is getting married in 6 WEEKS!! I can’t believe it, so exciting! Last weekend we went to Choccywoccydoodah in London for an all you can eat chocolate buffet!!! There was cake, ice cream, sweets, chocolate, milkshakes, hot chocolate and soft drinks! We could NOT eat it all, but luckily they give you boxes to take stuff home with you do you don’t have to leave it.

The room was beautiful, it was a private event room, covered in fake grass, with a rope swing seat, statues, a flamingo and a sheep (not real!) lovely lampshades and garden items! It was a bit like being in Alice in Wonderland in the Red Queens gardens.

Here’s some pictures that will make you want to go there NOW.

Beautiful people!

I’ve bought my dress for the wedding, but after all this chocolate it’s a little tight so I’m going to have to try and lose a bit of weight before then! Very excited.

Alice in Post Wonderland!!

I am a big lover of all things fairytale and fantasy, one of my favourite stories is Alice in Wonderland. I love all of the imagery and imagination! I even am hoping to have a (subtle) theme of Alice in Wonderland in my new house, including plans for a Mad Hatters Cocktail Party housewarming 😀

Look at what my lovely friend Joey sent me.

She’s amazing, she loves paper and pens and stamps and sending letters! Check out her blog if you love those things too~ So Joey.

Josie Makes’ Work Space

I sometimes find it hard to focus (OK all the time!) but especially when I have too many distractions. I usually work off of my laptop in my room while sitting on my bed, watching TV or trying to crochet a blanket. So I’ve set up an office in my loft, my brother provided the computer monitor, keyboard and mouse, and the desk and chair were already mine but not in use since I came back from university (not by me anyway). My brother had been using this room as a ‘games room’ as in he has 3 computers in a row and his friends would come round and they would sit next to each other playing computer games! He and his girlfriend have just bought their first house, and they’re moving from London up to Warwickshire.

Loft office

The room was done when I was a teenager and we had our loft extension. I was allowed to decorate it how I wanted as long as I decorated it. OK, so I had some help with the horrible bits, the sanding etc, but I chose the yellow and I painted it all. I have been brought up in a world of D.I.Y and cannot wait to have my own house, I already have a collection of things, but no place in sight just yet! Believe me when I do you’ll hear about it.

Merry Christmas

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas time! I still have a week off of work and I’m very excited to have so much time, I have lots of plans including learning to draw clothes, making a dress, creating a healthy eating plan, reading Jane Eyre, learning guitar… lets see how much of it I manage!

Here’s a few highlights from my Christmas.

This year I decided against getting out my old battered white Christmas tree and instead went for something a bit different. I had bought this white tree from Hobbycraft a few months ago and just decided to decorate this instead. I want to decorate it differently for each season of the year.

Renegade Craft Fair

It’s been such a long time since I have posted, almost 4 months! I was busy with my new job for a while, and then I was sulking for a while because I made my own craft ironing board and took loads of photos of the process, well the short story is I’ve lost them, and I’ve lost hours of my life looking through my folders, my cameras, using photo recovery software and then came to the conclusion that they might be on another memory card- could I find that anywhere? No. I’m hoping it will show up eventually, and that they’re on there!!

Anyway, craft wise during that time I’ve made a few embroidery hoops and a few Christmassy things and I’ve been crocheting a blanket. I will post some pictures of what I’ve made, but if you follow me on instagram @josiemakes I post things on there more regularly.

Yesterday I went to Renegade Craft Fair in east London with So Joey and it was so great, full of small craft businesses. Jewellery, accessories, homeware, illustrations, papercrafts and much more! I think I took a business card from almost every stall and am about to go through them finding them all on instagram and etsy and filling up my shopping basket!!!

These are the beautiful things I bought!

I saw this cute rain cloud necklace at the start of the day and had to go back to get it! I loved a lot of their stuff they had Christmas Jumper necklaces that I still have my eye on for Christmas but this was the thing that stood out to me on the day, it’s different from anything I have yet jewellery wise and I like to wear jewellery that expresses my moods!! Anyway I do like the rain, today has been such a lazy day, crocheting under my blanket watching Gavin and Stacey while it rains outside.

A Bit of an Update

Selfie

I’ve just come back to work today after a week off. I took the time off to go to a festival but we didn’t end up going this year due to monetary issues (!) so I thought I’d have loads of time to craft, get some more stock in the shop and do a lot of online stuff. I was wrong!

I can now reveal the reason is that I have a new job! I had my first interview for this job a couple of weeks ago, the morning of the crafty catch up club, hence why I was so sleepy! Then last Friday I had to go for a second interview because it was between me and another person and they let me know I had the job last thing on Friday. Only got my confirmation letter yesterday and have handed in my notice at work so it’s a bit of a stressful time but I’m excited! I will let you know more about it when I start, I just feel like I am going to jinx it if I talk about it too much.

It doesn’t leave me with any more time for crafting but I will continue doing this in my spare time I promise!

Crafty Catch Up Club

Thursday evening I met with a great bunch of people at the Crafty Catch Up Club, organised by @ladybirdlikes (and if you want to get involved look her up on instagram or facebook). It was downstairs at the Hawkhurst Vault tea shop in Brick Lane.

I didn’t stay too long because I’d had a long day and was feeling really sleepy! It was nice to meet some other crafty types and hear about what they do, and I’m looking forward to next time!!

Zoe (aka Ladybird Likes) really sweetly made everyone a goody bag, and @creightonschocolaterie bought a chocolate lucky cat for everyone too!
