My good friend Emma is getting married in 6 WEEKS!! I can’t believe it, so exciting! Last weekend we went to Choccywoccydoodah in London for an all you can eat chocolate buffet!!! There was cake, ice cream, sweets, chocolate, milkshakes, hot chocolate and soft drinks! We could NOT eat it all, but luckily they give you boxes to take stuff home with you do you don’t have to leave it.
The room was beautiful, it was a private event room, covered in fake grass, with a rope swing seat, statues, a flamingo and a sheep (not real!) lovely lampshades and garden items! It was a bit like being in Alice in Wonderland in the Red Queens gardens.
Here’s some pictures that will make you want to go there NOW.
Gluten free lemon and almond cake with ice cream! It took me 3 days to eat!
I’ve bought my dress for the wedding, but after all this chocolate it’s a little tight so I’m going to have to try and lose a bit of weight before then! Very excited.
I decided last month to do meat free march, to test the waters of vegetarianism! I’m really enjoying it so far, spending more time thinking about what I’m eating and trying new things! Check out this yummy sweet chili and garlic stir fry veg with rice noodles.
This is an easy thing to make, just melt some white chocolate, mix in some gluten free (usually organic) puffed rice cereal and some dried cranberries and leave in the fridge to set. I set the whole mixture in a tin and then cut into squares but you can also use cake cases.
The recipe for this Apple Cider Crunch Cake came from Phil Vickery’s Seriously Good Gluten Free Baking. It is quite a soft cake filled with apple and mixed dried fruits, as well as a bit of cider! Topped with apple and sugar mixed with cider.
For Christmas we went to my Aunt and Uncle’s for Christmas dinner, I was enlisted to make some gluten free deserts to take along. Here’s the first one.
Christmas Chocolate Cupcakes
Perkier! are a small company who make gluten free foods, who I first experienced at the Allergy and Free From show this year, where I bought some of their Rocky Road and Tiffin and just absolutely loved it! Luckily they have now gone nationwide with these treats available in supermarkets. On my holiday in October this year to Lanzarote I filled up my suitcase so that I would have something for dessert as I suspected, correctly, there wouldn’t be much there.
Earlier this month they ran a Christmas competition to win some goodies and a ‘Perk up your desk’ kit, and I won!!!
I decided it was time to do some baking again and I found Cakes N Bakes gluten free blog – cakesnbakes.wordpress.com.
